This is the most common intracranial tumour in children. Most present at less than 9 years of age. It is associated with NF1.
CT
• Well-circumscribed unilocular cyst, two-thirds are found in the posterior fossa (typically cerebellar vermis) with an enhancing solid mural nodule (low-grade tumours show no/poor enhancement).
• 20% calcify.
• The wall of the cyst does not usually enhance.
• Complicated by hydrocephalus.
MRI
• T2—well-circumscribed, hyperintense lesion with a rim of low signal containing multiple cysts
