Second most common malignancy in women after breast cancer, peaks in the fifth decade. Mostly SCC and spreads by direct invasion to the vagina, paracervical/parametrial tissue, bladder and rectum. Frequently causes hydronephrosis as it progresses. Metastases to the lungs, bones, brain and liver.
CT

•  Used for staging disease
•  Check pelvic, inguinal, retroperitoneal and para-aortic nodes—nodes may be involved without enlargement.

MRI
•  Tumour is intermediate signal on T2, which stands out next to the normal low-signal cervical stroma.
NUCLEAR MEDICINE
•  PET/CT is useful for demonstrating metastatic disease.
