This is a painful syndrome of proliferative periostitis of the long bones, arthritis and digital clubbing of the fingers and toes. In total, 90% of cases are associated with malignancy (mostly lung);
other causes include
- cystic fibrosis,
- chronic pneumonia,
- pleural fibroma,
- congenital heart disease,
- inflammatory bowel disease,
- cirrhosis, etc.
