HIP
• Dilute solution of 0.2 mmol/L gadopentetate dimeglumine for direct arthrography.
• Normal labrum is low signal on T1.
• 10%-15% have a communication between the joint capsule and the iliopsoas bursa.
WRIST
• Best sequence for imaging tears is T2 or T2* in coronal plane.
• The coronal plane is angled parallel to the volar surface of the radius.
• Magnetic resonance arthrography of the wrist performed with a gradient echo in coronal plane.
KNEE
• Sagittal images are obtained at an angle of 10° anteromedially to a line drawn perpendicular to a line drawn through the posterior femoral condyles.
• Normal findings:
– Bowing of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) on sagittal imaging (knee extended)– Low signal anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on T1– Low signal menisci on T1 and T2– Medial patellar plica
SHOULDER
• Axial, coronal, sagittal oblique fat-suppressed T1 and axial oblique T1.
• Labrum is low signal on T1.
• Abduction, external rotation position preferred for assessing the anterior-inferior labrum, where most tears occur.
