This accounts for about 1% of colorectal cancers. It is inherited by autosomal dominance. Expect to find microadenoma in early adolescence and macroadenoma by late adolescence. Presents with diarrhoea, rectal bleeding and mucus per rectum. Colorectal cancer is considered inevitable, so panproctocolectomy is performed.
CT
• Colonic, gastric and duodenal polyps.
• >100 adenomas are needed to make the diagnosis.
• Hamartomas of the stomach (non-specific appearance).
• Colorectal tumour or periampullary mass.
• Desmoid tumours are common, especially post-surgery—look for small bowel tethering, mesenteric infiltration or a large mass causing colonic/ureteric obstruction.
