This is due to a tropical roundworm; if numerous, it may cause obstruction or appendicitis. It can migrate into the biliary system and cause cholangitis or pancreatitis.
Barium follow-through
• Filling defect caused by the worm.
• The hallmark is opacification of the worm’s GI tract with contrast.
