These are rare, endocrine, pancreatic tumours (1%-2% of pancreatic malignancies). EUS is most sensitive for diagnosis. Insulinomas are the most common islet cell tumour (other types include gastrinoma, non-functioning tumour, glucagonoma, VIPoma and somatostatinoma).
CT
• Characteristic intense arterial enhancement
• Insulinoma tend to be <2 cm
• Vascular invasion
• Pancreatic calcification is common
• Hypervascular metastases (often extensive liver disease)
