The most common congenital intracranial cystic abnormality. Found most commonly in the middle cranial fossa (60%), cerebellopontine angle (10%) or suprasellar (10%).
COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT)
• Paramedian cystic lesion, may compress adjacent brain and scallop the adjacent bone
MRI
• Behaves like cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) on all sequences.
• No restriction of diffusion (unlike an epidermoid cyst).
