Rule of 2s: present in 2%, 2 ft from ileocecal valve, symptoms in 20%-40% and ectopic gastric mucosa in 20%. Due to failure in closure of the yolk sac. Complications include ulceration, bleeding, perforation, volvulus, intussusception, hernia, etc.
• Technetium-99m sodium pertechnetate scan is most sensitive in children, but only positive if there is ectopic gastric mucosa in the diverticulum.
INTERVENTION
• An angiogram may be performed to investigate or treat haemorrhage—it should show a persistent omphalomesenteric artery.
