Very rare autosomal dominant disease, also known as Trevor disease, it is an osteochondroma arising from an epiphysis. It presents in young children (up to 4 years of age) due to gait disturbance.
Plain film
• Premature appearance of an ossification centre that is enlarged, asymmetrical and contains stippled calcification.
• Physis may close early and the lesion then appears like any other exostosis.
• Usually affects multiple epiphyses in the same limb, most commonly the ankle region.
• Often restricted to either the medial or lateral side of the limb (hence hemimelic).
