This is a rare abnormality of the lymphatic channels that become obstructed, dilated and then rupture. It tends to affect children and young adults and presents with malabsorption, hypoalbuminaemia and hypogammaglobulinaemia. It can be congenital or acquired (due to e.g. malignancy or amyloidosis).
