Accounts for up to 80% of fibrous dysplasia, it presents at between 5 and 15 years of age (75% by <30 years of age). It presents with pain or pathological fracture and rarely becomes malignant (<1%).
FEATURES
•  Most commonly affects the ribs (most common benign rib tumour).
•  Femur (proximal most), tibia and craniofacial bones are next most common.
•  Commonly affects the proximal femur, then distal femur.
•  Craniofacial fibrous dysplasia may give the leontiasis ossea appearance 
•  Obliteration of the paranasal sinuses.
