Absence of the radius with or without absence of the thumb. Causes include:
• VACTERL (vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, trachea-oesophogeal fistula, renal abnormalities, and limb abnormalities)
• Holt-Oram syndrome (atrial septal defect and radial ray absence)
• Fanconi anaemia (pancytopenia and radial ray absence)
• Thrombocytopaenia absent radius syndrome
• Trisomies 13 and 18
• Cleidocranial dysostosis
