PLAIN FILM
• Hyperlucent lung with a paucity of vascular markings.
• Normal or small-volume lung and hilum on the affected side.
HRCT
• Hyperlucent lung with a paucity of vessels.
• Bronchiectasis and bronchial wall thickening are common.
NUCLEAR MEDICINE
• Expect a matched ventilation/perfusion defect (non-specific).
MacLeod syndrome. Chest x-ray demonstrating hyperlucency of the right hemithorax with paucity of the vascular markings.
