May be focal (malignancy) or diffuse (outflow obstruction, neurogenic bladder or chronic infection).
US
• Bladder wall measures >5 mm when distended.
• Trabeculation and diverticula suggest chronic outflow obstruction.
• Debris or stones in the bladder seen with neurogenic bladder.
• Small, thick-walled fibrotic bladder suggests tuberculosis (TB) or schistosomiasis.
• Calcification in the bladder wall seen with TB, schistosomiasis and malignancy
