This is a rare, localised form of gigantism due to overgrowth of fibroadipose tissue. Associated hyperaemia results in bone and soft tissue enlargement. It usually affects the hands and feet, where it follows the distribution of the median nerve or plantar nerve, respectively.
PLAIN FILM
• Bone and soft tissue hypertrophy.
• Cortical thickening and overgrowth of the articular margins.
• Lucencies in the soft tissues characteristic of fat.
• The bone trabecular pattern is normal.
